| How Do I… | Outstanding debts |
|
As a general rule, lenders will work out your maximum value, and then minus your outstanding debts – in the case of a joint application, debts from both parties will need to be declared. For example, 2½ times your joint income gives you £87,500. However you both have outstanding amounts to pay on a car loan and credit cards totalling £5,000. Your mortgage offer may reduce to £82,500.
